Why I Train- Adam Dowell

ADowellsnowboard-Coach Adam Dowell

Good or bad, life happens. Will you be ready or will you regret every time you convinced yourself why you couldn’t train. As a professional snowboarder it seems a pretty easy answer why I train, because I’m an athlete. While this is true, I more so just train for life. You never know when life will happen, whether it’s going on an incredible hike to Mayan ruins on your vacation, or helping people in a car wreck. You want to be ready for the moment. It’s far too easy to sit back and watch the world turn and admire other people’s feats of greatness through the t.v. On your deathbed you’ll remember the times you pushed yourself through adversity and challenges, not the neat t.v. show you watched. Make memories, not a dent in the couch. I also train to mitigate pain. No matter your job, you’re bound to create imbalances. Imbalances that lead to compensations and stress on the body, resulting in pain. It’s important to stay balanced. Some people are go-getters but get hurt because they love to adventure, and don’t prepare themselves for it, resulting in easy injury, couch time, and a vicious cycle. Find your own reasons, whatever makes sense in your life. I simply train FOR life!
